Link your smart meter
Register with your MPAN (your supply point number — on your bill). We connect to your SMETS2 meter via a secure, read-only link. No engineer needed. Takes two minutes.

Give permission once
We access only your anonymised electricity usage data — read-only, never stored with your name or bank details. Privacy-by-Design means your data stays yours. Verify your email and you are done.

Credits arrive automatically
Cryptotricity monitors the grid, earns on your behalf during Green Alerts, and sends credits to your energy provider at the end of each billing cycle. A Loyalty Credit appears on your bill.
No switching required. Cryptotricity works alongside your existing supplier — Octopus, British Gas, Electric Ireland, Bord Gáis, or any other. You never need to change your energy supplier to use the platform.

Do I need to switch energy supplier?
No. Cryptotricity is completely supplier-agnostic. Octopus, British Gas, Electric Ireland, Bord Gáis — it does not matter. You stay with your current supplier and earn credits alongside your existing tariff.
What smart meter do I need?
You need a SMETS2 (second-generation) smart meter. These were installed across the UK and Ireland from 2018 onwards. If you are unsure, check your meter for a SMETS2 sticker or ask your supplier. If you have a first-generation SMETS1 meter, contact us — compatibility varies.
Is early access free?
Yes. Completely free to join. No credit card, no payment, no obligation. Early access members receive a launch notification and may receive bonus founding member credits when the platform goes live in Q3 2026.
What is the Lifeline emergency credit?
The Lifeline is Cryptotricity's automatic emergency protection for prepayment meter households. When the platform detects a critically low balance via the DCC smart meter network, it fires an emergency credit directly to your meter — before you disconnect. Zero action required. Zero contact with your supplier needed.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Cryptotricity follows a Privacy-by-Design model. We access only anonymised electricity consumption data via a secure, read-only link. We never store your name with your energy data, never access bank details, and never sell personal information. Full details in our privacy policy.
Does Cryptotricity control my power supply?
Absolutely not. We provide incentives — Green Alerts suggesting when to run appliances to earn credits. The decision to act is always yours. We never control, interrupt, or adjust your electricity supply under any circumstances.
What if I want to exit my staking tier?
One tap. Always. One-click exit is available at any time — the discount is forfeited immediately but your $Tricity credits return to your balance in full. No lock-in, no penalty on your credits. The staking tier activates the discount — exiting removes it. Your credits remain yours.
When does the platform launch?
Cryptotricity is targeting a Q3 2026 launch with a 100-household pilot cohort in social housing in England. Early access members will be first to be contacted when enrolment opens. The full platform rolls out from Q4 2026 across the UK and Ireland.
